Role: Sam

The Quiet Answer follows Sam, a successful but emotionally drained writer trapped in a monotonous routine and the pressure of public expectation after a celebrated book release. Despite professional success, Sam feels isolated, unable to be himself, and burdened by the need to maintain an image. During a rehearsal for his next presentation, he encounters Devin, a quiet janitor whose simple faith and openness about loneliness contrast sharply with Sam’s inner emptiness. Through their unexpected conversation, Devin gently challenges Sam’s belief that he must face life alone, offering faith as a source of connection and meaning. This encounter plants a subtle but profound shift within Sam, and when he later reflects on his life in therapy, he begins to show signs of renewed hope—suggesting that even in solitude, connection and healing can quietly take root.

Role: David

Ellie is a promising young footballer, playing at local and state level, progressing through the ranks each season. Having recently received a lucrative offer from an overseas club in a growing football league, Ellie is fast approaching the departure date when she will fly over, with most of her time being spent at the local pitch, improving as much as she can, pushing herself to her limits. When arriving home, she reflects on her past achievements, the trophies, the teams, the friends. To her surprise, her brother, David walks into her room. He’s come in to talk. This allows Ellie to open herself up to him, the first she’s been able to in a long time. The two haven’t shared a moment like this before, for as long as they can think back, and they’ll have to wait a little longer to experience it again.
